Reed Bent

Blow forth your breath
Your servant is subdued
This lowly reed
Knows nothing else
But to bend
At Your soft breeze
The wildflowers
May soon gather
Underneath me
But those weeds
Will never grasp
My deep seated roots

Blow forth your breath
Your servant is subdued
Grant this lowly reed
Restful stillness
In times of disorder
And cunning tempest
Displace not
My diffident core
To parched land
For I choose to be fixed
Only in Your resolute
And sturdy ground
